Its so easy to forget what your unit looks like, especially if it is "running okay."
It is super important to understand that the weather can effect the physical make-up of your HVAC unit which will subsequently effect its proper functioning. In the above pictures we see what nature's wrath has done to a unit mounted on top of a store. The damage is obvious. Now, bare in mind that this unit is running and running seemingly well. However, the units ability to breath and/or shed heat has been reduced. Air flow is restricted do the bent "fins" on the exterior coil caused by last week's hail storm.
Now, most of us don't have large roof-mounted units. We have smaller little things out behind the house. They can, in their own right, take an enormous beating during a good ole Chattanooga, Southern thunderstorm. I seriously have never seen hail like that!
The point of this is to protect your investment! There are several solutions for the is problem.
